CORRECTIVES®

Often clients get stuck going down the rabbit hole of "What Modality Do I need? Or I heard that i need (enter the acronym of whatever is trending in the market as a "technique")..

With my clinical training and skills being pretty broad based not only in manual therapies but with a concentration in studying with some of the top movement "Move-ers" in the industry, if you are in Pain...the focus should be on GETTING YOU OUT OF PAIN... using whatever skills I have at my disposal. (it could include a combination of therapies, self-care therapies customized to YOU and whatever you are currently dealing with. Everyone's anatomy and how they wound themselves into pain is different. I do not venture to say that any one method will work for all. This is THE appointment you book if you are currently dealing with an issue and want to be a bit more aggressive with getting rid of it. (could include manual therapy, Rocktape/Rockblade, alignment based correctives, yoga therapy ball work, mobility work, or MELT Method or a partner "fascial release work"-see below)

What's the Pictures of the Foot? Stepping on People?

Are you a fan of deep tissue massage? or Rolfing or Myofascial Work? (consider this "deeper than deep" work)

This is based on the Rossiter System which is a series of powerful and effective techniques for addressing structural pain and mobility restrictions. It quickly and effectively removes pain at its source, and restores mobility in the body. Better movement equals better athletic performance, whether you are walking to the fridge or running a marathon.

MY EXPERIENCE: I have taken this modality beyond the initial 16hr training and beyond the certification and Advanced Level....totaling not only over 200 hrs of formal training with top instructors across the country but the developer of this technique. In combination with over 13yrs in the manual/movement industry-  I feel confident on being able to assist my clients in identifying the issue and getting out of pain.

If you have seen versions of this work elsewhere under a different name- yes, it can be confusing. Enterprising students of Richard Rossiter's have gone on to establish their own versions of the work in no less than 4 different brand names within the US and Canada. I prescribe to the "it doesn't have to hurt to work" and "more movement vs heavier weight" within the work i do with this.

Often the  results are quick, profound and life-changing.  There are no medications, no splints, no injections and no risky surgery. Connecting ACTIVE movement vs a passive modality often has much stronger results for most of my clients. More so, recent education of mine with the nervous system connection and myofascial work has me recognizing the limitations of even, this modality and i can add in other options that may benefit my clients. Movement Rocks!

What are some common conditions that people seek me out  for?

  • Limited range of motion
  • Trigger finger
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Hip pain and tightness
  • Low back pain
  • Sciatica

For Athletes

I love working with Crossfit and Endurance athletes.

Movement modalities are gaining momentum within the Crossfit community, and many boxes have built partnerships with practitioners to offer these techniques as an add on to the existing programming. A practitioner can work with you to minimize risk of injury, increase optimal range of motion, and support recovery work.

Endurance athletes also put their bodies to the test, and chronic and repetitive use injuries can take away from your performance and your ability to enjoy your training and races. I quickly address plantar fasciitis, shin splints, and other over-use injuries so you don't have to lose your race season by sitting out on the sidelines.

What should I wear and bring? (Correctives® and Privates)

Wear something comfortable and easy to move in, such as athletic wear, and water if you would like. Avoid slippery spandex-type material if possible.

How many sessions will I need? How often?

We create a specialized treatment plan for your specific issue, so the number of sessions you need will vary. Many issues can be resolved in 3-4 sessions, and then simply maintenance sessions. Less entrenched problems can see tremendous relief with one session a week.

Chronic or more complicated problems may take longer and require 2 or 3 visits per week for optimal, lasting results. If the movement patterns that created the pain don't change, ongoing maintenance may be required. Compared to the time and expense of surgery and many other methods, you will be amazed what we can accomplish together in such a few short sessions.
